About Nishtar Medical College (NMC Multan): Nishtar Medical University is Pakistan’s one of the most renowned public-sector medical colleges located in Multan, Punjab. It is named after a famous Pakistani politician and activist Sardar Abdul Rab Nishtar. It was established in 1951, and it is Pakistan’s 3rd oldest medical institution. The college has an area of over 20 acres. The Nishtar Hospital is located adjacent to the college. Nishtar Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Pakistan. The main finances of the college come from the government and some from private support from local philanthropists. The college is large and spacious, has a central quadrangle, which is a garden, on the sides of which academic buildings are located.

NMC Multan is a well-known hospital for getting good experience in the medical and, especially, surgical practices because of its diverse and large catchment. On the 1st of October, 1953, Nishtar Hospital was established. In 1954, the departments of Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Tuberculosis, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Anesthesia, and Radiology departments were functional. Today, Nishtar Hospital has a total capacity of 1103 beds, however, due to high public demand, extra beds have raised the capacity to more than 1800 beds. What is the Procedure for admission to the hostel? Hostel accommodation is not provided to all the applicants. It is provided subject to availability. The hostel accommodation is given to students who are admitted to the college (or is seeking admission) and has a domicile of a place other than Multan. Day scholars cannot apply for on-campus residency except under special circumstances. Seats are awarded by the Warden of the hostel on the basis of seniority and merit (determined by the year of study and by the marks obtained at the last University/promotion examination).
Can Room Allotment ever be Cancelled? Students who do not pay the hostel dues on time will not be eligible for allotment. If a student who is allotted hostel accommodation is not residing him/herself and found misusing the room then his/her allotment will be canceled. They will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further necessary action.
Are Final year Remanded Students eligible for Hostel Accommodation? Final year remanded students are eligible for hostel accommodation but subject to availability.
What is Nursing School Nishtar Hospital? The Nursing School Nishtar Hospital, Multan was established with the collaboration of UNICEF. it was founded in June 1953. since then, it has been giving training in general nursing. From 1955, classes for midwifery courses have also started.

Admission Rules for already Admitted Students
- If any candidate (already studying in any medical/dental institute) wishes to get admission to the Government Medical & Dental Institution of Punjab, then he/she will have to surrender the previous admission. He/she will not be entitled to any credit of examinations passed as well as dues and have to appear in the current year’s entrance test. He/she shall have to disclose his/her previous admission in the Admission Form.
- Students who are admitted to first-year MBBS/BDS class but are constantly absent from the beginning of the academic session for a period of four weeks with no valid reason shall be struck off from the college roll and their seats will be filled on the basis of merit from the waiting list.
- There are two or more rounds of selection of candidates depending on the availability of vacant seats.
- The selected candidate must join his/her allocated college on the date set by the college authorities, otherwise, his/her admission stands canceled.
- The admission of the candidate shall be canceled and he/she will be debarred from admission for a period of 07 years, if any document provided by the candidate is found false or the candidate was not entitled to admission according to the admission policy for medical/dental institution of Punjab or if the candidate is found medically unfit at any stage of MBBS/BDS course or if he/she fails to report for admission and/or deposit the fee on the due date.
